Genesis Aquatic Update from our Head Swim Coach, Rick Pendleton
It’s been a while since our last update on our amazing swimmers competing for our Aquatics Club at meets throughout our region, almost every weekend recently!
Currently, Genesis Aquatics are sitting 5th in the Brisbane Junior Premiership, equal with St. Peter’s Western!
We have been steadily climbing over the past years in this category and we have made it a mission to really excel in the juniors. Junior and Senior combined see us as top of the 1st Division and on track to reenter the premiership division next year.
The Queensland Open Water Championships were in October, and we had 3 medalists in Brisbane, 2 of which were gold, 2 national qualifiers and 9 top 10 finishers. Our medalists were Lauren W, Olivia G, and Makenzie S. Olivia and Lauren qualified for national open water in Adelaide in January 2022. Well done ????
At the recent Brisbane Relay Championships, Genesis came away with 3 medals and 14 top 10 finishes. In the previous 2 years we have not earned a single medal and only 5 top 10’s combined, so this is a great effort.
The group is ramping up to the Queensland State Long Course Championships in mid-December. We have at least 25 swimmers already qualified for this event. Again, since last year we have more than doubled our participants at that meet.
Looking forward we have started our preparations for Nationals in April 2022.
So far, we have had these people qualify:
  • Kiralee H
  • Margot D
  • Kaelah B
  • Lauren W
  • Samantha M
  • Makenzie S
Well done to our swimmers and congratulations on the hard work – it’s great to see it paying off!
